God of War to Egyptian Mythology! The New Game is in Development!

Kratos' Next Adventure: The Egyptian Gods Await!

undefined

Thus far, the God of War series has taken players on an epic ride through both Greek and Norse mythology, making Kratos one of gaming's most iconic protagonists. However, according to new rumors, his next destination will be Ancient Egypt!

There are rumors that Sony and Santa Monica Studio are in the process of dealing with a sequel of God of War, setting this time in Egyptian mythology. In case it is to be true, it will mean a whole pantheon of new gods, epic battles, and a new mythology for Kratos to conquer.

God of War Shifts to Egypt!

The last one was God of War: Ragnarok, the epic conclusion of Kratos' Norse saga. But since it was at its end, many people started asking questions: Where would Kratos go next?

Leaks and concept arts indicate:

Kratos will fight against Egyptian gods in a new location.

Pyramids, temples, and wide deserts are going to be the new landscape.

Ra, Anubis, Osiris, and Set might be the next divine opponents.

New combat mechanics will also be added along with Egyptian-themed weaponry.

If true, this would constitute one of the largest God of War changes yet.

But how does Kratos actually fit into Egyptian mythology?

How Will Kratos Enter Egyptian Mythology?

God of War has always played with mythology, taking Kratos and plopping him into the midst of ancient legends, bending and twisting the stories to his will. Egyptian mythology, with its deep connection between gods and humanity, is a fascinating setting for the next installment.

New Gameplay Mechanics to Expect

Each new God of War title improved over the last, and the same went for combat mechanics, exploration features, and enemy encounters. A move into Egyptian mythology would allow for the following:

Specifically Egyptian weapons and magic-based combat.

Tombs and pyramids that are explored through puzzle-based gameplay.

New enemy types: mythological creatures and divine warriors.

Much more open-world feeling, with the great expanse of Egypt's deserts. It would be another perfect opportunity to redefine what God of War plays like, courtesy of Santa Monica Studio.

When Will the Game Be Announced?

As of now, Sony and Santa Monica Studio have not made any official announcements. However, the leaked reports and internal discussions suggest that the game is already in early development.

Since God of War: Ragnarok launched in late 2022, many expect the next game to be released in 2025 or 2026 at the earliest.

A New Chapter for Kratos Begins!

Kratos' adventure through Egyptian mythology would be one of the coolest detours for the God of War series: new gods to kill, epic battles to fight, and a whole cultural basis for the game could really broaden the series's scope without losing that core brutality and action.
